The man believed to be 46 years old, sustained critical injuries

A man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Friday after being shot in the lower back in West Village.

In a statement sent by ER24 multimedia journalist, Ineke van Huyssteen, the man believed to be 46 years old, sustained critical injuries.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 2.30pm, they found the man lying in the parking lot and bystanders surrounding him. Upon further assessment, it was found that the man had sustained gunshot wounds to his lower back and was in a critical condition,” she said.

The paramedics treated the man before he was taken to hospital for further medical care.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but police were on the scene for further investigations.”
