Both terms are interrelated in addition to being topics which often arise where Big Data, analytics, and broader waves concerned with technological changes sweep across the world, which often leads to confusion. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a long and rich history which dates as far back as Greek myths which contained stories with mechanical men. There were computers in early Europe which were considered logical machines which had reproducing capabilities including basic arithmetic and memory. However, as technology in addition to the way in which our minds work has progressed, AI has changed drastically and the complex calculations, work in the field of AI which is focussed on mimicking human decision, making progress and carrying out specific task in more ‘human’ ways without assistance, has increased.
AI and ML, what are the distinct differences that you should know about?
One of the best answers to this is that AI is a broader concept concerned with machines being able to carry out tasks in a way that could be described as ‘Smart’, or ‘Intelligent’. Machine Learning (ML), on the other hand, is the current application of AI which is based on the idea that machines should be granted more access to data so that they can learn for themselves, with nearly no human intervention or encouragement. One of the first imperative difference between AI and ML can be found in their names, namely that AI is Artificial Intelligence while ML is Machine Learning. Both these terms are used interchangeably these days and while they are related, there are vast differences between them. There are, however, numerous other differences when, viewed side by side, clearly illustrates the differences between AI and ML.
