Krugersdorp’s CPFs will still patrol during lockdown

They encourage residents to report any suspicious vehicle, people or actions to the police and local CPF sectors.

Piet Sparks, the public relations officer for all the Community Policing Forums (CPF) in Krugersdorp, released the following statement with regards to the nationwide lockdown commencing this Friday.

“All CPFs and their sub-structures were directed by the Gauteng Province’s Community Police Board to cancel any and all meetings at all levels, in keeping with the prescription by the President of our Republic with the measures implemented to manage the Covid-19 virus threat. The term at this time will continue until the end of April 2020 and/ or for an extended period if called for,” his statement read.

He further stated that all the CPF sectors in Krugersdorp are operational although the Covid-19 pandemic is clamping down on the movement of many people.

“The CPF patrollers are out there patrolling and helping where they can. Please report any criminal activities, suspicious vehicles and people to police, and your local CPF structures.

“There are many criminals out there using the Covid-19 pandemic as an opportunity to try and commit crime. Please don’t allow any suspicious people on your property. CPF patrollers will always have identification cards with them, but if you don’t trust a person or situation, you are welcome to contact your CPF patrollers or police.

“Let us all join hands during this period to make sure our town and people are safe.”
