[Watch] Countless litres of water wasted from tank

A problem at the water tower supplying drinking water to the West Village area has been causing major water losses in the past few weeks.

It has come to the News’ attention that a water tower supplying drinking water to the West Village area has been experiencing frequent leakages. On closer inspection it seems that the water tank was overflowing.

Watch here:

On 3 March John Barnardt, a member of the West Village community, took the video to show how litres of water spill from the water tower, and create quite a large pool of water in the road.

The Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) media department was contacted after hours on 3 March, and again the next morning, and responded initially by noting that they would contact the relevant departments to get more information on the matter.

On the afternoon of 5 March, the MCLM confirmed that about two weeks before a similar problem with the tank had been reported to them and was fixed, and that they had already sent out a team to check on the water tower that morning (5 March).

The problem should be tended to soon.
