New cars to help Flying Squad fight crime

The West Rand Flying Squad is proud to announce the addition of three new high-speed vehicles to their fleet.

The West Rand Flying Squad is always ready to keep the community safe, and even more so now that they have three new vehicles in their fleet.

On Thursday, 23 January, three new Volkswagen Golf 7 GTIs were handed over to members of the West Rand Flying Squad.

Sergeant Dhladhla, Warrant Officer Mofokeng, fleet manager Warrant Officer Bam, unit commander Lieutenant Colonel Pillay, communications officer Karen du Plessis and Sergeant Phalane in front of the three new vehicles.

The unit commander, Lieutenant Colonel Pillay said the three additional cars will help to increase the visibility of the unit on the West Rand, they will enable unit members to attend to complaints, and will improve the unit’s service delivery.

“They came at just the right time and will be utilised optimally,” said Pillay.

The job of the Flying Squad is to keep the community safe and with the three new high-speed vehicles they will definitely be able to do just that.

“This is their way of giving back to the community,” said Karen du Plessis, West Rand Flying Squad communications officer.
