The vet will see you now

The Randfontein State vet recently visited West Village to administer free inoculations to the community's dogs and cats.

“We can’t save them all, but we can at least try,” said Cimone Venter, the Chief Executive Officer of the Four Angels Forever charity organisation.

Cimone said that she and Lee-Ann Smith from Palms Spaza join up with the Randfontein State vet twice a year to visit West Village, where they give free inoculations to the dogs and cats in the area.

Pet owners can bring their pets for shots against Rabies and their pups for shots against the Parvovirus, both of which can be fatal to animals.

“This service is desperately needed in this community as the people here love their animals, but can’t always afford veterinary bills,” Cimone explained.

Apart from the inoculations, the community and volunteers also donated food. The food is kept at the Palms Spaza shop, and every day fresh food and water is put outside for animals who live on the street.

Cimone added that they had prepared to treat about 180 animals on Friday.

She wanted to thank everyone that helped them on Friday as well as the community members who brought their pets along.
