CIT driver flees to Krugersdorp Police Station after heist

It is believed that after being attacked, a cash-in-transit driver drove to the Krugersdorp Police Station to get away from the attackers.

Two cash-in-transit guards allegedly fled from their attackers and wound up at the Krugersdorp Police Station after one of them had been shot.

According to a statement from ER24, they treated two guards following a heist last night.

“Shortly after 6.30pm, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene, where they found the cash-in-transit vehicle half on the pavement outside the Krugersdorp Police Station along Commissioner Street,” said Werner Vermaak, from ER24’s communications office.

He added that the paramedics found a passenger who had been shot in his arm, inside the vehicle.

“He was treated on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care,” said Vermaak.

They found the driver of the vehicle inside the police station.

“He had no visible injuries but was later transported to a nearby hospital by another service for a medical assessment,” he explained.

He said that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, but it seems that the incident took place somewhere else in Krugersdorp. The driver managed to get to the police station with their attackers in hot pursuit.

The News has contacted the Krugersdorp Police for comment, and will report back as soon as possible.
