Clearwater Harley Davidson riders show their softer side
Motorcycle riders and pet lovers came together to collect much-needed products used to house and keep sometimes unwanted pets alive and safe.
Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) is continually working hard to save local pets from abuse, abandonment, disease and hunger.
It’s a sad truth that many pets are not always treated very well, and this organisation becomes exceptionally important. But the thing is, Fora literally can’t function without help from outside. Fora reiterated once more that they are fully reliant on donations from the public and from groups who come together specifically to help out.
Harley Davidson riders, the Hog (Harley Owners Group) Clearwater chapter, recently hosted two events as part of their ‘For our Furry Friends’ initiative to raise funds and gather food, blankets and other pet products for Fora Krugersdorp, with great success.
On Friday, 5 April, in association with the Clearwater Harley Davidson retailer, they held a fundraiser at the storefront. Many people showed up in support and donated a lot of products to help out Fora’s needy cats and dogs.
But, the Hogs weren’t done just yet. On Saturday morning, 6 April, they set out with their motorcycles, took to the town and gathered even more pet products from locals.
On Monday, 8 April, the Hog riders delivered everything, using multiple cars filled to the brim, to Fora, being greeted there by friendly wagging tales and a little abandoned pup which had also made an appearance at the fundraiser on Monday. The dogs decided to make themselves comfortable on the blankets while the team was still unloading everything.
This will surely help the centre, but regular events and donations like this will be needed to keep them going as usual. The Hogs often help out, and said that they will continue to support Fora in the future.
