Sector 5 CPF votes in new leadership

This year's executive team for the Sector 5 CPF was voted in during a members meeting on Thursday evening, 28 March.

The Sector 5 Community Policing Forum (CPF) for the Krugersdorp West, Burgershoop, Boltonia, West Village and Oatlands areas held a members-only vote to choose the new leadership for the group.

For the past few months Sector 5 had an interim executive committee, and the vote was called to bring in this term’s official leaders.

Susan de Beer, who stood as the CPF’s public relations officer until the vote, said this year’s voting was a lot stricter to ensure that there would be no corruption. She noted that during previous years some residents might have brought in other family members or friends to bolster their vote. This year each household was limited to two votes, which in most cases meant that only the wife and husband were eligible to vote.

As a result, 48 votes were cast and the new team was appointed.

Morné du Plessis was appointed as chairperson, with Steffan Edwards the vice-chairperson. Naomi Sutherland and Annetjie Calitz were named secretary and vice-secretary respectively. The role of public relations officer was assigned to Hans Joyet, and Louise Els became the group’s treasurer.
