Armed robbery leaves Licensing Department closed for the day

Krugersdorp Police are currently investigating a case of armed robbery that occurred in the early hours of 3 December.

Early Monday morning, 3 December, 15 armed men allegedly disarmed the security guards on duty at the Mogale City Licencing Department, tying their hands.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, one of the four security guards allegedly sustained injuries.

“The suspects used unknown explosives to blow open the safes on site, and proceeded to raid the offices. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen.”

The Licensing Department will remain closed today, and it is not yet clear when it will reopen.

Police are appealing to the community for any information which may lead to the apprehension of the 15 suspects. Information can be forwarded to the Krugersdorp Police department on 011 951 1152 or to Crime Stop on 086 001 0111.
