#KrugersdorpMurders — Mother Marinda’s relationship with her children is strained

She testified that she does not speak to Le Roux, but would like to.

Day 2 of Marinda Steyn’s testimony in the South Gauteng High Court, in the trial of the remaining three accused of the Krugersdorp murders, continued yesterday, 29 November.

The trial of the three remaining accused, Cecilia Steyn, Marcel Steyn and Zak Valentine, in the so-called Krugersdorp murders case, has seen some shocking testimonies.

Although a lot has been said, Marinda still managed to leave the court speechless with her testimony.
Entries into a diary that Marinda had, revealed notes she made after her children, Le Roux and Marcel Steyn, were arrested.

“Say nothing further”, “What did they say about who, C [Cecilia] wants to know”, “Stop confessing the police have nothing”, “What did you confess”, and “Did you talk to your dad”, were some of the entries in her diary.

On the last page presented, Marinda wrote that if she dies they must cremate her and flush her remains, whatever costs the least. Whatever money is made after her death must be used for the Electus Per Deus witches, druids and the Electus Per Deus (EDP) children.

“I can’t write that in my last will and testament so I am saying it here,” she wrote.
When she was later asked who the EPD children are, she said they are her children and the ‘little ones’. ‘Little ones’ is what she called Cecilia’s childlike personalities.

She was asked to name the ‘little ones’ but declined. She added that because they are Cecilia’s personalities they might be listening to her testimony and she did not want to upset them. Some of her other personalities were called Akeesha and Lilith.

She denied that Cecilia ever claimed to be a 42nd generation witch. She explained that her family was not fond of her friendship with Cecilia and her dad even said once that they are like a bunch of witches dancing around a fire.

She said after that comment it stuck and they called themselves witches as part of a running joke.
Her relationship with her children is a bit strained these days – although she still speaks to Marcel from time to time, she does not speak to Le Roux anymore.

“I am willing to talk to him but he doesn’t want to talk to me,” she explained.
She also said the relationship between her children had soured.

In her testimony, she told the court that after they killed Glen McGregor they cleaned up the scene and arranged the furniture so that nothing would look out of place. She used to cut up the gloves she used during the murders and flush them down the toilet. She would also dispose of clothing, laptops and cellphones afterward.

She claimed to have hidden the gun she shot McGregor with, because she didn’t want to use it again and run the possibility of the two crimes being linked.

She said that Le Roux used to call the ropes that he used strangled the victims with a ‘chokey-chokey’, and although she did not like killing someone in that manner she allowed her son to do so.
She compared her relationship with Cecilia to that of Ruth and Naomi in the Bible.

“For me she (Cecilia) is like a daughter, a mother and a sister. She is just the type of person that can be all these things,” Marinda explained.

When the State started asking about Marinda’s tattoos she asked if she could decline to answer because her tattoos and their meanings are very personal. It was decided that she would talk about her tattoos, but without the cameras being on. She then told the court about her various tattoos and the meanings behind them.

The trial continues today and will most likely be postponed.
