The first four months of the year are almost over and some are taking a well-deserved holiday. When last did you check your vehicle’s tyres?
For those who are lucky enough to travel long distances by road, tyre safety should be first on your to-do list before departing.
To get the most out of your tyres in terms of maximum mileage and safety, you need to maintain them properly.
Something else to keep in mind is that insurance companies will not pay out any claims if tyres are deemed not roadworthy. Your tyre safety depends on you, the driver.
This is what you can do before leaving for your destination:
• Check that you have a spare tyre and that this tyre is pumped
• Check that you have the correct tools to change a tyre if needed
• Check your wheel alignment
• Check your tyre pressure
• Rotate your tyres on a regular basis
• Replace your tyres if needed
• Perform a visual inspection
When planning your holiday, plan for safety on the road, be responsible and have a safe journey.
