Aircraft bursts into flames at Lanseria

The pilot of the Cessna Falcon 402 was forced to do an emergency landing.

Three people sustained burn injuries and many others were left with traumatic injuries after a light aircraft had burst into flames shortly after landing at Lanseria International Airport.

The incident occurred yesterday 13 December at approximately 3.30pm. The aircraft was allegedly on its way to Wonderboom Airport outside Pretoria. It is believed the pilot of the Cessna Falcon 402 was forced to do an emergency landing.

Netcare 911 paramedics worked alongside other emergency services personnel to assist the victims on the scene.

It was discovered that some of them had moderate injuries.

Paramedics treated two of the men on the scene before transporting them to a level one trauma burns facility in Johannesburg for further medical treatment.

A third male patient was also treated and transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the incident is not yet known, but the Aviation Authority is investigating the incident.

The News has requested and is awaiting official statement from Lanseria Airport about the incident.
