Charges of false identity and theft have been added to the list of charges against the man.

The man, who is in his 30s, was declared dead on 15 December 2015 after his burnt-out vehicle was found in the Free State.

He remains unnamed as he has yet to plead to the charges against him.

He was arrested in the Free State by Krugersdorp Police in June and had since appeared in court, alongside two other suspects, on fraud charges.

It is alleged the man faked his death to claim life insurance money to the value of R3,6 million.

This is allegedly not the only charge the man is facing – charges of false identity and theft have been added to the list.

Details will follow once court has adjourned; alternatively you can follow the live tweeting from the courtroom by searching for the hashtag #DeadManAlive on Twitter.
