Ammunition found in teacher’s class storeroom

Bail was again denied for the local teacher and her friend who are facing conspiracy and fraud charges.

The charges are adding up against the local school teacher who is currently facing charges of fraud and conspiracy to murder.

The local high school teacher, aged 50, and her friend, aged 35, who were arrested in connection with the case of the man who ‘died’ in an incident in the Free State in 2015, made their third appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Both women have applied for bail since their arrest in July, but the bail hearing was postponed for consideration.

The teacher, who is also the mother of Leroux and Marcelle Steyn, who are in custody as part of the foursome that stands accused of the murders of three Krugersdorp residents during May, was also arrested for being in possession of a quantity of dagga two months ago. The woman is an Afrikaans teacher at a local high school.

The police recently searched the classroom where the woman teaches and found a staggering amount of ammunition hidden in the storeroom. As a result, a charge of possession of ammunition will be added to her list of charges.

During their second appearance on 2 August, the court heard shocking details from the statement of the investigating officer, detective Captain Ben Booysen, who is also investigating the link between the mother and her friend to the murder of the Noordheuwel couple, Peter and Joan Meyer, which occurred in November last year.

Both woman were denied bail by Magistrate Page and will remain in custody until their next appearance on 30 August.
