Maragon’s Keagan goes gold

Maragons' Keagan Bontekoning wins another gold medal.

Keagan Bontekoning from Maragon Private Schools won a gold medal at the recent Gauteng Cross Country Mountain Biking Championships, hot on the heels of his victory at the South African Track Cycling Championships in April, where he walked off with four golds and two silvers.

He became the South African Omnium U/16 boys’ champion and his team won the gold medal, breaking the South African U/16 boys’ record.

The young sportsman received national colours for his achievement. Keagan will be representing Maragon Schools in the High School Spur Series, a mountain biking and cycling initiative for high schools, and is hoping to be one of the top three who will be selected for the Gauteng team.

Keagan is currently in second place in the series, with two more races to go.
