Ballot boxes and voting documents found in veld

The ballot boxes are clearly marked as belonging to Ward 29.

The News has received a very concerning message on Facebook about the local elections.

The message, accompanied by numerous photos, says a number of IEC ballot boxes have been found lying scattered across Koedoe Park in Rant-en-Dal.

The boxes were found on the corner of Robert Broom Drive and Lark Street.

The ballot boxes are clearly marked as belonging to Ward 29.

The message also stated that voting documentation was also found among the boxes.

The News immediately tried to contact the spokesperson of the IEC for urgent comment about the message and the photos. All the numbers that were contacted went unanswered and an email requesting comment has been sent to the IEC.

The News also contacted Dennis Pretorius, local DA councillor, about the situation. Pretorius said he was not aware of the scattered boxes and documentation at Koedoe Park, but would follow up immediately.
