Celebs get their hands dirty for a cause

Lights, dusters, action as celebs join in to clean Cradle's Bright One for Mandela Day.

Operation Restoration kicked off on a dirty note for the local women’s organisation, The Cradle of Hope.

After months of battling, the Cradle finally managed to purchase premises that will house destitute women with children, but the house is practically falling apart. The organisation aptly named their new house The Bright One, because they bought it in blind faith.

The restoration project was recently adopted by the Woman of Substance (WoS) organisation which decided to kick off with renovations at the newly acquired home on Mandela Day.

Staff of the Cradle, WoS members and a handful of well-known celebs got their hands dirty while cleaning up the house.

The News caught up with two celebrities as they were making their way through the house armed with matching cleaning gloves and sunglasses.

Corine du Toit, best known for her role in M-Net’s Egoli and Sandra Vaughn, known for her roles in 7de Laan and Isidingo brought some celeb flair to the cleaning affair.

Corine, who is an ambassador for the Cradle, thanked Melodie van Brakel for the work she does in the community.

The consummate performer, Carlo McFarlane, who is an award-winning actor, dancer and singer best known for his lead roles in the television series Backstage, Muvhango and Villa Rosa, joined in on the cleaning action.

Shamila Ramjawan handed over some sanitary products to Melodie for the women at the Cradle.

Cold drinks and sweet treats ended off the 67 minutes at The Bright One.
