Young man freed with Jaws of Life

A young man believed to be under the influence of alcohol, wrecked his vehicle in an one-vehicle accident.

A young man was freed from his wrecked vehicle after he was involved in an accident late last night.

Sector 9 Community Policing Forum patrollers, a Dowry High Risk Unit, and the tow-trucking service Help24 rushed to the corner of Albertina Sisulu Road and Windsor Street after the young man crashed through a wall at approximately 10pm last night (18 July).

Paramedics from QRS, ER24 and Netcare911 along with Mogale City’s Emergency Management Services responded to the scene to extricate the man, believed to be in his early 20s.

It is believed the driver took the turn too quickly, lost control of his vehicle, and smashed into a nearby wall. He was freed from his wrecked Toyota Etios with the use of the Jaws of Life.

He was treated on the scene before he was transported to Leratong Hospital for further medical treatment. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Fortunately, no-one else was seriously injured.
