Four days of extensive investigative work sees the arrest of the first suspect in the triple murder case.

Around the clock work by a team of investigators secured the first arrest after a series of murders sent Krugersdorpers in a frenzy last month.

A team of investigators who were assigned to the murder cases of Anthony Scholefield, Kevin McAlpine and Hanle Lategan, confirmed the arrest of a suspect.

A 29-year-old male was arrested late last night at the Krugersdorp Police Station.

“This arrest is the result of numerous hours of intensive investigation into the murder cases during the last four days,” West Rand Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst confirmed.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court this Monday, 6 June.

“The team of investigators are still working around the clock to secure other arrests.”

The West Rand Cluster Commander, Major General Anna Mateisi expressed her satisfaction with the results that this team has achieved.

She applauded their efforts and tenacity in trying to bring the culprits to book.

“Your efforts are noticed and the Krugersdorp community can rest assured that these cases are top priority,” Mateisi said.
