17-year-old arrested for murder

Teenager stabs a man to death at a local tavern in Swaneville.

A 17-year-old was arrested earlier this week after allegedly stabbing a man to death.

Kagiso police arrested the teenager on 28 March after he allegedly stabbed the victim to death at a local tavern in Swaneville.

The arrest follows after police reacted to a complaint of murder from a local hospital. Police proceeded to the hospital and upon arrival met the deceased’s brother and friend.

Stab wounds to the neck and upper back was noticed on the body of the deceased.

“The deceased’s brother told the police the deceased was attacked and stabbed during a fight with the 17-year-old suspect,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

He was certified dead on arrival at the hospital. The suspect was later arrested and is facing a charge of murder.

He was transferred to a youth rehabilitation centre in Soweto.
