The shooting in Luipaard Street yesterday near the Medicross ended fatally for the taxi driver who was shot several times.
According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the driver of a Hyundai stopped next to the stationary taxi and an unknown amount of occupants stormed the taxi driver.

One eye witness, a beggar at the intersection, heard several gunshots and saw the vehicle fleeing from the scene.
“The suspects got out of their vehicle and opened the driver’s door and started arguing with him. One of the suspects took out a firearm and shot him several times before fleeing the scene,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale confirmed.
The 33-year-old victim was stabilised on the scene and taken to the Leratong Hospital in a serious condition.
He later passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
It is believed that shots were fired in his upper body, including his head.
Police are now investigating a murder case.
