Vigilant police officers arrested three suspects in one day in three unrelated incidents.
A 32-year-old suspect was arrested for driving recklessly. The driver of a red BMW allegedly was driving recklessly on the R24 towards Ventersdorp on 21 February at around 11.30pm.
Police him pulled over after he allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Failing to produce his driver’s licence resulted in his arrest. He has appeared in court.
On the same day two more suspects were arrested.
A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with a housebreaking and theft incident while the third suspect, believed to be in his 20s was arrested for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
“It is alleged the suspect lent the victim a knife and later aggressively demanded his knife back. The victim allegedly was assaulted with a stick, sustaining multiple injuries,” said Constable Lucky Matome, Tarlton Police spokesperson.
Both suspects are expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
Lieutenant Colonel CP Tsoaedi, Tarlton Police Station commander, expressed her concern with the number of assault cases reported recently.
“Hard work, dedication and team work always pay off. I urge the community not to solve their differences with violence and rather seek police intervention,” Tsoaedi said as she thanked the members for their hard work.
