Tied-up victims assaulted to open up safe

The suspects took the family's vehicle which they abandoned after the local CPF and police's Task Team gave chase.

A case of house robbery is being investigated by Krugersdorp police after suspects tied-up victims and threaten and assault them.

A 51-year-old man and his daughter were at home when three unknown suspects entered their home in Wallnut Street in Breaunanda on 7 February at around 2pm.

The suspects gained entry to the house through the kitchen and tied-up the victims’ hands and threatened and assaulted them to open the safe.

They then managed to steal two LCD TV sets, two laptops, a tablet, three cellphones, jewelery and a wallet before fleeing the scene in a silver VW Polo Vivo sedan with a BM 21 MD GP registration number plate.

With the help of the Provincial Task Team, the local CPF (Community Policing Forum) members gave chase which led them to the Leratong area where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled by foot.

The team managed to recover the vehicle and some of stolen items such as a TV, laptops and a tablet.

“The Krugersdorp Police Management applauds the community for the good working partnership in our fight against crime. Your participation ensures a safer community for all our children,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Tshepiso Mashale said.
