Pedestrian dies in early morning accident

Traffic was backed up for about a kilometre this morning.

An accident involving a pedestrian and bakkie caused major traffic delays on the M13 (from Kagiso) going towards Krugersdorp this morning.

Mogale City Traffic Department spokesperson, Papi Motaung, informed the News that the pedestrian “unfortunately passed on”.

“We have officers on site [who are] helping out,” he said.

Motaung suspects that the pedestrian might have crossed the road towards one of the mines in the area. But the exact cause of the accident is not known.

Police are attending to the accident that happened around 6.30am and they are waiting for the pathology services van to transport the body.

“The traffic was backed up for about a kilometre, but we managed to control the flow,” he said.

The state of the driver is still unknown.
