Elderly man still missing

Missing elderly man's family has reason to believe that the recent passing of his wife may have played a role in his disappearance.

The missing elderly man, Sarel Janse van Rensburg, has still not been found after going missing on new year’s day.

His sister told the News that he had been visiting her since 3 December and mysteriously disappeared on 1 January from the Jack Cotton Old Age Village in Krugersdorp West.

“He said goodbye, and I ask him if he was going to take a walk to which he agreed. That was the last I saw of him,” she told the News.

His sister, Emmie, is worried that his disappearance follows the one year anniversary of the passing of his wife.

Sarel slept at one of Emmie’s children at night and would usually spend the day with her.

He was wearing dark blue pants, a checkered shirt and black shoes at the time of his disappearance, and could easily be identified by his grey hair and his glass eye on the right hand side.

“I pray every morning and evening for his safe return. Not knowing where he is, is the worst feeling,” she said.
