Motocross park owner murdered in home

Owner of Syringa Park was shot dead in his Muldersdrift home over the weekend.

Friends, family and clients are posting their condolence messages on social media after the news broke about the murder of a local Muldersdrift businessman.

Owner of the motocross hotspot Syringa Park, Jannie Stander, was fatally shot during an armed robbery at his Muldersdrift home on Friday night, 15 January, when four armed robbers entered his house at around 9.40pm.

Stander, who was 47-years-old along with his wife, 32, were in their lounge with the doors locked at the time of the incident.

“It is alleged that four unknown male suspects, armed with firearms forced their way into the house. The victim was shot on the upper part of his body as the suspects gained entry into the house,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.

He was later declared dead on the scene by paramedics who responded to the incident.

His wife was robbed of her wedding ring, cellphones, laptop and money before fleeing by foot.

“The Muldersdrift Police are investigating a case of house robbery and murder. Anyone who has information that can assist in identify the suspects involved in this serious crime can please report it anonymously.”
