Where to drop off water and bottles here

A movement has started in Krugersdorp and you can still help.

Two days later and thousands of litres of water more have been donated to those suffering under the drought.

Local Community Policing Forums (CPF) are still helping the community to give what hey can.

It is becoming more evident that this project is long from over.

Krugersdorpers are still busy dropping off water bottles, either filled with water or not, and dropping them off at certain drop-off points.

Yolanda van Staden, whose home is one of the drop-off points, told the News that people are volunteering to transport the water to certain towns in the Free State. The initiative was started by an organisation called Water Shortage South Africa.

“A wave of volunteers are setting up networks within towns, cities and villages to donate, collect and transport water to disaster areas. The water goes to a multitude of destinations. Each destination uses the water sparingly to meet their individual needs,” their website reads.

“There are many people who are willing to give water, but we do not have the containers for it,” Yolanda said.

There is a growing need for not only water, but bottles or containers to transport it in.

If you have any bottles to spare, the News is aware of the following drop-off points:

• 9 Poole Street in Dan Pienaarville, or call Yolanda on 076 990 8024,

• 23 Hartford Avenue in Silverfields;

• 51 Hugo Street in Krugersdorp North.
