New tricks and officers at Tarlton Police

Welcome to two new commanders at the Tarlton Police Station.

Tarlton Police recently saw two new commanders taking over at the award-winning rural station.

Lieutenant Colonel Christina Soaedi is now the new station commander and Captain Tebogo Kgomo is the new Visible Policing (Vispol) commander. Both policewomen have worked within the Krugersdorp Cluster before and both have many years of experience in their respective fields.

“I have been with the service for 24 years,” Soaedi told the News in an interview.

She previously was the relief commander at Randfontein Police Station and said she has an open-door policy at her office.

“The station is already well in order, I simply will add on to its successes,” she said.

In September, two months before Soaedi’s appointment as station commander, Kgomo became the new Vispol commander.

Constable Lucky Matome, police spokesperson, said he admires both commanders and since Kgomo became the Vispol head, there has been a visible decrease in robberies at businesses, houses and of car items.

“I looked at the station’s manpower and came up with a task team that solely focuses on these pressing crimes,” Kgomo explained.

Both women acknowledged there are many women in leadership roles within the South African Police Service, but they say it’s not a matter of gender, but a matter of being able to deliver and do your job.

Soaedi wished the community and police officers a very merry Christmas and a happy, safe New Year.
