Police all in for 16 Days of Activism

The police want the community to know they are available to help and keep those who are abused, safe.

December is dedicated largely to the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

During this time organisations and people around the world show solidarity and commitment to eradicating violence against women and children.

Tarlton Police has joined the campaign by addressing issues such as children being neglected and domestic violence, which occur in the Tarlton community and surrounding areas.

“We decided to kick-start 16 Days of Activism at Sun Valley Farm to create awareness of the violence against women and children, which need to be stopped,” Constable Lucky Matome, police spokesperson said in a press statement.

The police, along with the departments of Health, Justice, Social Services and Welfare came together to educate the community about these pressing social issues.

The Teddy Bear Clinic also told residents they are always available if anyone needs help. The clinic is a non-profit organisation that aims to minimise secondary harm to children and their families when they enter the child protection system.
