Cops to spend Christmas in jail

Bail has been denied for the three Krugersdorp cops involved in the alleged execution style killing of a suspect.

This means the officers will spend Christmas and New Years behind bars.

They are set to appear again on 25 February 2016 next year.

No bail for alleged execution killing cops

13 November

Thousands of supporters again showed up this morning (13 November) at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court to support the three police officers on their bail application.

A fully packed courtroom with more protesting supporters outside learned that Magistrate Page had denied bail for the three officers who were seen on CCTV footage allegedly executing a robbery suspect in Lewisham in October.

Supporters waited in anticipation as Magistrate Page adjourned the court a number of times before coming to a decision.

Colonel Pillay was called to the stand, said the accused would be suspended without pay and that they allegedly refused to sign the suspension letters.

The State was also questioned as to why they were not opposing bail and believed that their case is strong.

The case has been postponed until 2 December.
