The Krugersdorp Cluster unites to combat crime and makes an astounding number of arrests.

The Krugersdorp Police Cluster boasts with an astounding number of arrests made over a weekend in September.

The arrests include three house robbery and murder suspects.

“Members of the Krugersdorp Cluster Task Team and Randfontein detectives arrested suspects linked to a house robbery incident in April in Culemborg Park, Randfontein. The resident also allegedly was killed during the robbery. They were found in possession of numerous stolen items,” explained Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

An identity parade was held to link the suspects to other similar cases in the area.

Over the same weekend the Cluster Crime Prevention Unit in conjunction with local traffic authorities concentrated on cases of driving under the influence. 19 suspects throughout the cluster were arrested.

Other arrests were for crimes ranging from murder, rape and hijacking to contravention of the Liquor Act and travelling on a train without a valid ticket.

“The acting cluster commander, Brigadier Baijnath expressed his satisfaction with the successes achieved over the weekend. Crime prevention is our main objective and removing the criminal element from our communities forms a large part of it. We will continue in this manner,” Ernst concluded.
