Two alleged gangsters arrested for assault

Two alleged members of the Crazy Six gang arrested for assault.

Two men, aged 22 and 24 were arrested for wreaking havoc outside a tavern in Swanieville.

The two alleged gangsters were arrested on 17 September for allegedly attacking and assaulting the complainant on 29 August.

The complainant alleged that at about 0.30am he parked his vehicle outside the tavern in which his girlfriend was at the time.

“He entered the tavern and called her outside. After they had spoken, the woman returned to the tavern. Suddenly an unknown man appeared and asked the complainant what he wanted from the woman. The complainant told him about his relationship with the woman,” said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson.

The suspect allegedly became violent and slapped the complainant in the face with an open hand. His two accomplices suddenly appeared and attacked the complainant with a beer bottle. One of the suspects drew a knife and stabbed the complainant with it.

“The complainant managed to flee to a nearby house but the suspects, alleged to be members of the infamous Crazy Six gang followed him. The owner of the house denied the suspects access to his yard,” Sibiya explained.

The complainant was rushed to hospital with the suspects still in pursuit, but fortunately they could not gain access to the hospital.

After the complainant had received treatment for his injuries he went to the local police station to lodge a complaint of assault against the alleged gang members.

The police launched an investigation and searched for the suspects. They cornered and arrested two of them in Swanieville. Another suspect is believed to be in hiding.

The suspects have been detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm was re-opened.

The suspects have made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
