Toddler dies after freak accident

The community mourns the death of a four-year-old girl after a freak accident.

Friends, family and teachers are mourning the passing of a little girl who died after a freak accident over the weekend.

A four-year-old girl was declared dead in hospital after the gate to the property where her parents are currently renting from in Krugersdorp West, had fallen on her.

It is believed the little girl and her older sister ran to the gate to greet their father, when the older sister opened the gate, causing it to fall on her.

A family member told the News that the girl’s parents are currently struggling to come to terms with the tragedy and at this stage refuse to elaborate regarding the accident.

Rest in Peace messages have been posted on Facebook for the little girl who attended Mug and Tree Crèche in Fisher Street in Krugersdorp West.

The little girl who was known as Pokkels was described as the apple of her teacher’s eye.

The Krugersdorp police were called to the scene on Friday afternoon, 11 September, where she was declared dead.

No foul play is suspected.
