Shot fired at local mall

Two robbers grabbed a woman's handbag and left shoppers traumatised as they flee the scene after firing a gunshot.

Shoppers made a run for it after a shot was fired at entrance one of Key West Shopping Center earlier today.

A shopper was making her way towards entrance one, where the Pep Stores is located, when a vehicle suddenly stopped next to her as she was walking along the pedestrian crossing.

The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle, grabbed her handbag and then jumped back into the car.

A shot was fired in the air which sent shoppers in all directions.

Krugersdorp police were called to the scene to take statements of the woman who was robbed.

A 9mm bullet casing was discovered not far from the scene and will be used as evidence in the police’s investigation.

The traumatised woman and her husband were questioned by the police.

The man described the get-away vehicle as a gold-ish looking Mercedes-Benz with two occupants.

“It happened all so fast,” he said to the News.

Shocked and in tears, the woman showed the News her injuries she obtained on her hand as the suspect grabbed her handbag from her.

Management of Key West will formally give comment once the police has conducted their investigation.
