Brother and sister critical after fire

Both patients were in a critical condition.

A shack fire in Munsieville left a brother and sister critically injured.

On Mandela Day, 18 July, paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg West branch were called to the scene by provincial services, and on their arrival, found fire services busy battling the fire.According to ER 24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, paramedics were ushered to two patients, a male and female in their 70s, that had sustained severe burns over most of their bodies.

Both patients were in a critical condition.

“Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the patients with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, one of the patients were airlifted by the ER24 Helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital. The second patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.

“It is unknown how the fire was started, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” Meiring said.
