Man stabbed in cheek

Police who were busy with their routine patrols were stopped by a woman who informed them about a stabbing incident nearby.

A 28-year-old attempted murder suspect was arrested on Wednesday evening, 1 July by Kagiso Police in Sinqobile.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said police were busy conducting their routine patrols when they were stopped by an unknown woman who told them a man was stabbed at a certain house nearby.

“The police proceeded to the given address and on arrival found an unknown man lying on the ground and bleeding. He sustained an open stab wound to his cheek and head injuries.”

Sibiya said while the police were still on the scene, the suspect arrived and the woman who stopped the police immediately pointed him out to the police.

“He was immediately arrested and detained at the Kagiso Police Station. The wounded man was rushed to hospital in a stable but serious condition.”

He said the motive for the attack was unknown but the police launched an investigation.

A case docket of attempted murder has been opened and the suspect will appear briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
