Detective solves case

Two brothers fight off house robbers after their youngest brother has cried for help.

Another successful conviction was secured after a detective had closed in on a suspect who attacked two brothers with a knife.

In the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on 1 June, 26-year-old Couper Khoza was convicted of house robbery and sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment.

The case dates back to 15 February 2014 when Khoza and his accomplices attacked two brothers in Morcom Street in Lewisham.

The complainant was sleeping in the outside room when he heard a loud noise at one of the windows of the house around midnight.

He saw three unknown males armed with knives but he managed to run outside to cry for help.

“The brothers of the complainant came out of the main house to help him and a fight broke out between the brothers and the three suspects. After the suspects had stabbed the brothers with knives, two of them managed to run away, but the third one was apprehended by the brothers,” commented Krugersdorp Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale.

The brothers and the remaining suspect sustained injuries and had to be rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect later was detained at the Krugersdorp Police Station, while the other two suspects are still at large.

A stolen television was recovered outside the yard.

“The Krugersdorp Cluster Commander Major General Mateisi appreciates the good work done by detective Sergeant Humphrey Mokhitli from the Krugersdorp Detective Unit who secured a good conviction for his case. He worked with passion and is dedicated to his work,” Mashale concluded.
