Rapist receives 25 years

A man was found guilty for raping a woman four years ago when she could not give him money.

Four years after he was arrested for rape, justice prevailed.

Maxwell Kwanele Ncube was handed down a 25-year imprisonment sentence in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.

Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, a police spokesperson, said the victim was walking in the veld when an unknown man (Ncube) approached her from behind and demanded money.

When she told him that she did not have any money, he forced her on the ground and raped her.

Thabo Au, an investigating officer at the Krugersdorp police’sFamily Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit worked around the clock to locate the suspect by interacting, among other with members of the family, which led to a successful apprehension.
