Brittney and her steed a winning team

A Maragon pupil jumps to new heights with her best friend by her side.

With a passion for horse riding and a six-year-old South African Warmblood horse as a best friend, Brittney Oosthuizen looks forward to conquer all her equestrian dreams.

“I have been riding Patchy, my best friend for the last two years and have achieved so much in such a short space of time,” says Brittney.

This fortunate equestrian finished the schooling of Patchy as a young gelding and have worked with a number of horses so far which she had to take care after and ride.

“I have been to Belgium whereby I had lessons from highly experienced and qualified coaches, and visited EuroStar where Olympian horses are bred.”

One of her biggest highlights was attending one of the biggest shows in the world, the five star rated Michelin show which enabled her to dream even bigger.

Her talent was developed even further when she traveled to Ireland in 2014 where she was coached by an ex Olympian who represented Ireland.

All the coaching paid off when she was awarded her Gauteng colours from both the South African Show Jumping Federation and the South African Junior Championships in a team of four in 2014.

Brittney also took part in the South African National Equestrian Schools Association league and made it through to the nationals.

“I started this year off with a bang whereby I achieved my best placings in one given qualifier in April which was held at Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in the Cradle of Humankind. I am so proud to represent my school Maragon at these qualifiers,” boasts Brittney.

With five first places for the new year, Brittney has set the bar high for 2015.
