Robbers ask for cigarette then robs man

Police have also arrested 256 suspects over the weekend for a variety of crimes.

The Kagiso police have arrested two men for an alleged armed robbery in Kagiso.

Constable Lucky Matome, a police spokesperson said it is alleged that the suspects were lingering around the victim’s vehicle when they asked him for a cigarette.

“The man then gave the suspects a cigarette, but when he asked them to return it they then pointed a firearm into his direction before robbing him of his belongings.”

Matome said it is through good police work that the suspects were arrested and will be making a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.

In separate incidents the police arrested 256 suspects for a variety of crimes over the weekend which range from armed robbery, rape, dealing in drugs and liquor, house breaking and theft, among others.

Major General Mateisi, Krugersdorp Cluster Commander, thanked the community for reporting crimes that happens in their areas as a good working relationship between the community and the police always pays off.
