Sporting’s best compete at tournament

Altogether 54 netball and 14 hockey teams participated and for most part the weather played along.

Some tough sporting games were the order of the day at Krugersdorp High School’s (KHS) annual Best of the West Netball and Girls’ Hockey tournament.

Lauren Jooste-Coetsee, marketing director said unfortunately the playoffs in the netball section did not take place.

Based on the pool standings, KHS won their pools in the under 14, 15, 17 and first sections.

The two West Rand schools, KHS and Hoërskool Florida, locked horns in the under 15 side, but KHS won 1-0.

The girls’ hockey tournament was completed and results for KHS for the weekend were as follows:

First side:

KHS vs Maragon 0-0 (draw)

KHS vs Fourways High School 1-2 (loss)

KHS vs Potch Girls High 2-0 (win)

KHS’s first side finished off third in the tournament.

KHS vs Fourways High School 2-3 (loss)

KHS vs St. Andrews School 0-5 (loss)

KHS’s under 15 side finished fourth overall.
