Mindalore shooting leaves one dead

A resident shot a suspect after they opened fire on him.

Several gunshots were fired in the early morning hours of Saturday 7 March which led the Community Policing Forum members of sector 9 to the body of a suspect.

The members were patrolling along Seehof Street when they heard what sounded like a gunshot. More gunshots followed and the members drove into the direction of where the shots were heard from.

Entering Adam Street, they saw a boy in the road waving for their attention.

They then quickly followed the boy to the house when they found the body of the suspect.

According to the police report the shooting took place at 2.30am in Adam Street.

“It is alleged that the victim was sleeping in his house when he heard the alarm of a vehicle go off. He went outside to inspect why the alarm was discharged. Shots were fired at him by the suspects and he was shot in his right leg. The victim then fired shots at the suspects. One of the suspect died on the scene,” comments Krugersdorp police spokesperson Constable Tshepiso Mashale.

It is alleged that the owner of the house was found in his living room with gunshot wounds to his leg. The CPF members swiftly alerted the ER24 paramedics who shortly arrived on the scene to treat the man.
