Police arrests 102 over the weekend

The Krugersdorp Cluster had their hands full when they arrested several people for different crime related offences over the weekend.

The police of the Krugersdorp Cluster consisting of Krugersdorp, Muldersdrift, Kagiso and Randfontein had a very busy but successful weekend with over 100 people being arrested.

Hitler Ngwenya, a police spokesperson said police arrested a total of 37 people between the ages of 30 and 40 for driving under the influence and drug related offences.

A further 28 were arrested in Randfontein for trying to cross the railway crossing under the influence.

Kagiso police managed to arrest three men between the ages of 30 and 47 for house robbery, one for rape and one for murder.

All other offenses committed in the Krugersdorp Cluster amounts to 37, with Krugersdorp having the most arrests.

The Krugersdorp Cluster Commander Major General Mateisi applauded the partnership policing between the members of the public and the different police stations for a job well done.

“It also encourages members of the public to also take part in a bid to get rid of all the criminal activities in and around our area,” she said.

“We also thank the police who made sure that innocent motorists could reach their destinations safely.”

All the suspects arrested will make a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
