Social media went abuzz after an alleged attempted armed robbery took place at a well-known shopping centre yesterday afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses on the social media network facebook, two women were allegedly robbed by a group of suspects when they returned to their vehicle after doing grocery shopping.
Shopgoers heard loud screams and screeching tyres followed by a gunshot which was fired into the air.
The News got confirmation from a reliable source within the police that the armed suspects broke into a vehicle when they were interrupted.
Gretha Ledoux said she had a narrow escape when a dark blue or green Mazda drove at a high-speed past her at one of the entrances of the shopping center’s parking lots.
“I heard people screaming and saw the get-away-car speed past me.”
