Hijacking trend in Mindalore

More women are being targeted in hijacking incidents in Mindalore.

A woman and her mother-in-law were pulled from their car in yet another hijacking incident in Mindalore.

The victim was waiting patiently in the car for her mother-in-law in front of the Post Office in Mindalore on 30 January.

After her mother-in-law had wrapped up her business, she slowly made her way to the car in the parking lot.

It is alleged that as she opened the car door to get in, two males approached her.

She then was pulled from the passenger seat and pushed to the ground.

A second suspect approached the driver and pulled her out from behind the steering wheel.

The driver grabbed her shoes and her cellphone when she was instructed to hand over her cellphone to the suspect.

“I am not leaving my shoes,” the traumatised victim recalled saying.

The suspects then drove off in her black Opel Corsa.

Fortunately the vehicle was recovered in Kagiso later that night thanks to its three tracking systems.

The suspects are still at large.

In view of three hijacking incidents in the last week in Krugersdrop, the news is urging women to take special care as hijackings are on the rise.
