Pupil stabbed for cellphone

Criminals go as far as robbing pupils on their way home from school.

It is alleged that robbers stabbed a pupil from a school in Krugersdorp West twice while on his way home from school.

A group of children were on their way home on 21 January when they were approached by two men who demanded their cellphones.

The suspects took out their knives to threaten the children.

It is believed that one suspect started stabbing a child when he refused to hand over his cellphone.

After stabbing the child twice, the suspects grabbed the cellphones and fled.

The child was rushed to a local hospital where he received medical treatment for the stab wounds.

Later the child went to the Krugersdorp Police Station where he opened a case of robbery and assault with a weapon.

Police are investigating the matter and urge children to be vigilant when walking in the streets.

“We are arguing the pupils to be alert when walking in the road; be on the lookout for any suspicious-looking people,” pleaded Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp SAPS.
