WARNING Graphic photos: ‘Help! They are biting me!’

WARNING: Graphic photos of a housekeeper who was attacked by two pit bulls in Monument en route to her employer's house.

She was enjoying coffee with a friend when she got the call from her housekeeper.

“Madam! They got me, the dogs are biting me!”

These were the cries of a hysterical Elizabeth Motsumi, 53, when two pit bulls grabbed her last week Friday 16 January while she was en route to her employer’s house.

Carmen du Plooy said it took her about 10 minutes to get from Noordheuwel to the scene in Nicolas Smith Avenue in Monument where she found Lizzy, as they got to know her, in severe pain on the sidewalk.

There she saw Hendrik Zinn, the owner of the dogs who according to her did not make any effort to help her employee, a grandmother who is also the only breadwinner for her family.

Zinn said he did his best to get the dogs away from Lizzy when they attacked her as he was outside at the time.

“I don’t know how they got into the street. They somehow managed to escape from my property through my gate.”

This was the second time in a week that his dogs attacked someone, he confirmed.

Du Plooy helped Lizzy into her car and rushed her to hospital as her injuries were severe and she bled profusely.

She did not know what the extent of Lizzy’s injuries was until a doctor at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital explained it and showed it to her.

“The dogs were eating her alive! Parts of her flesh were ripped out. There are bite marks and bruises all over her body – it’s going to be a long road to recovery.”

Du Plooy said she posted the details of the incident on the Krugersdorp Network Community facebook page and the amount of support surprised her.

“We live in an amazing community. We have received so much kindness and love as well as thoughts and prayers,” she said.

Both dogs were put down by the SPCA and a case has been opened at the Krugersdorp Police Station.
