Emergency services are currently on the scene following a light aircraft crash where two people have allegedly been killed.

The accident happened just after noon in the Munsieville area about 2km outside of the Jack Taylor Airfield.

Bradley Smith, owner of Quick Response Ambulance Services is on the scene and said that details are very sketchy at the moment and he cannot confirm anything as yet.

Gerhardt Nieuwoudt, the commanding officer of the West Rand District Municipality’s emergency services said as far as his understanding goes, two people have died in the crash moments after the two took flight from the airfield.

“At this stage a post-mortem must be done to confirm the exact cause of their death.”

According to Russel Meiring, an ER24 spokesperson, a helicopter flying over the area picked up their ER24 paramedics to drop them at the crash site since they cannot reach it by vehicle.

No names can be made public until the deceased’s family have been notified.

This is the fourth aeroplane crash in Krugersdorp since the beginning of the year.
