Good Samaritan donates chairs to school

A former pupil was touched when she heard about the theft of school property as well as the shortage of chairs at the school.

The days of sharing chairs and sitting on the floor at school will now be a thing of the past after a good Samaritan donated chairs to a needy school.

Pupils of Thuto-Lefa Secondary School in Munsieville either were sharing chairs or sitting on the floor during class, but that changed after Dineo Masekane, a former pupil said she was hurt to learn about the theft of school property as well as the shortage of chairs at the school.

Masekane, who is passionate about education decided to buy 120 Hola chairs for the school. She said donating chairs for the school was one way of giving back to the community.

“At a meeting we were told that most of the school’s property was stolen in one of many burglaries.”

The chairs value at R5 700 were delivered this week, much to the appreciation of the pupils and principal.

“It is in everybody’s heart to see our kids doing well in their education and we as members of the community need to play our part in doing that. I feel proud to be part of this school and to have contributed positively towards the education of our kids,” said Masekane who also is an Automark Knight.

Automark Knights represent an elite group of sales people who are valuable assets to both their dealerships and Toyota SA.

Their responsibilities and duties are to set an example of being balanced professionals in their working environment, community and social activities.

They make another contribution to dealer profitability by demonstrating to their fellow sales colleagues their product knowledge and combine service to the customer.

Matshidiso Maputle the school principal said, “We are very proud and happy that one of our former pupils has seen the need to donate to the school.

“We hope that other former pupils will learn from what she did and they will think of their fellow pupils and give back to the community and the school.”
